HUMBRA was born in Death Valley, the hottest place on Earth. We needed a true hitch-mounted awning, and nothing existed. So we made our own: stronger, smarter, and purpose built for trucks and SUVs. After years of testing and refinement, that idea became the Firefly, an asymmetric cantilever canopy that integrates directly with your vehicle and delivers reliable shade and shelter anywhere you take it.
Why was HUMBRA created?HUMBRA was created to solve a simple but overlooked problem: there was no purpose built hitch mounted canopy designed for trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles with a 2” receiver. Existing options were improvised and not engineered for real vehicle integration. HUMBRA set out to build a sleek, versatile, and long lasting shelter system specifically designed for true vehicle integration, demanding conditions, and years of dependable use.
How did HUMBRA get started?HUMBRA began when founder Kevin Craford took a trip to Death Valley and quickly realized there was no dependable shade solution designed to work seamlessly with his pickup truck. Existing options were improvised, small, and not built for true vehicle integration.
Rather than compromise, Kevin began prototyping a hitch mounted canopy of his own. What started as a personal solution immediately caught the attention of other travelers, who consistently stopped to ask about it. Their enthusiasm validated the idea and sparked the development of what would eventually become the Firefly: a purpose built, hitch-mounted canopy system designed for true vehicle integration, not adaptation.

Firefly is lightweight, easily transferable between vehicles, supports off vehicle use, and features modular, replaceable components designed for long term ownership.
