Being frustrated by companies overcharging for their products, Dr. Paul Gold decided to solve that problem by starting GoldBio during the 1980s. During that time, despite the lack of startup incubators, internet, social media, and crowdfunding at the time, he brewed the idea for GoldBio in 1986. With support from his wife, generous family members, and a helpful network, Dr. Gold established the company.
GoldBio's journey began at the former St. Louis Technology Center, now the location of the St. Louis Science Center. Its first lab space was situated at St. Louis University. The startup embarked on its mission with just three products: IPTG, X-Gal, and X-Gluc.
Over the past 30 years, GoldBio has experienced significant growth, expanding its catalog from three products to an impressive range of over 3000.
