Cap’n Josh, as he was known, was really only seeking a cool, comfortable, stable night’s sleep onboard his boat; he never set out to be in the hammock business! But soon enough, the inevitable happened: Friends wanted a rope hammock as good as the one he’d made for himself, and then it was friends of friends, and then folks Cap’n Josh didn’t know at all. In no time, family members were pitching in to help him meet the increasing demand. Jump forward just a few decades, and the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock had already become the standard by which other rope hammocks were being measured. Today, we get machine assistance with a few production processes, such as rope-making and woodcutting, to capture the precision required. At Pawleys Island, we don’t view the human part of the process merely as important; we regard it as essential. Handcrafting is who we are.

I bought the chocolate/weathered rocker at a store in Sherwood, Oregon and wanted another. Went on the website and luckily found it along with the side table. Thought it would be 10-12 weeks, but it was here in 2! My husband and I are both seniors, but we were able to assemble both items in about an hour. So thrilled and might buy a couple more.

After replacing my husband's last Pawley's Island hammock with a different brand, I regretted the decision for two years. This year, for his birthday, I decided it was time to go back to a Pawley's Island brand hammock. No more complaints about lounging under the tree. They may be a bit pricier than other hammocks, but well worth the price in both wear and comfort.

There is a one-year warranty on this product, and at 13 month after purchase, the color came off like chalk all over my clothes and body. I bought mine in red (now discontinued) and customer service said the one-year warranty is up and that they don't stand behind the quality of their products after that. For the price, I expect far better quality! Only buy if you're okay with replacing after just over a year of use.

First of all I’d like to say that I am thrilled that my order was delivered so quickly. This is my 2nd Pawley Island hammock and I will never buy another brand. The durability, quality materials and fine craftsmanship are second to none! I’m writing this from my hammock, relaxing in the shade of a big maple, listening to the birds sing while enjoying the breeze and a crystal clear blue sky. Absolutely Perfect.

Felt like I needed to leave a review that this hammock is still great after 15 years. We use it every summer, but take it in during rain. It has survived 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Best hammock ever.

We are the envy of our lake cottage neighbors. Ours was Baldwin Green color but the craftsmanship and quality is really great. We added the spring and spinning mechanism for a very enjoyable ride. Love love love.

I intentionally looked for a hammock made in the U.S. and I am so pleased with the quality. It was a rainy day when ours arrived so I shoved furniture aside and set it up in our family room. So amazingly secure and comfortable, I was asleep in 15 minutes. I cannot wait to get it out on the screened area and sleep out there at night! Thank you for surpassing my expectations! PH

We LOVE this hammock! These are the best made hammocks around. We have purchases several hammocks from Pawley;s Island online and this is the BESt!! It can get wet and drys out quickly.
