But soon enough, the inevitable happened: Friends wanted a rope hammock as good as the one he’d made for himself, and then it was friends of friends, and then folks Cap’n Josh didn’t know at all. In no time, family members were pitching in to help him meet the increasing demand. Jump forward just a few decades, and the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock had already become the standard by which other rope hammocks were being measured. Today, we get machine assistance with a few production processes, such as rope-making and woodcutting, to capture the precision required. At Pawleys Island, we don’t view the human part of the process merely as important; we regard it as essential. Handcrafting is who we are.

First of all I’d like to say that I am thrilled that my order was delivered so quickly. This is my 2nd Pawley Island hammock and I will never buy another brand. The durability, quality materials and fine craftsmanship are second to none! I’m writing this from my hammock, relaxing in the shade of a big maple, listening to the birds sing while enjoying the breeze and a crystal clear blue sky. Absolutely Perfect.

I intentionally looked for a hammock made in the U.S. and I am so pleased with the quality. It was a rainy day when ours arrived so I shoved furniture aside and set it up in our family room. So amazingly secure and comfortable, I was asleep in 15 minutes. I cannot wait to get it out on the screened area and sleep out there at night! Thank you for surpassing my expectations! PH

Love my new hammock from Pawleys Island! The light blue pillow I purchased with it has a fresh beach feel. My only complaint would be it is so comfy cozy I often fall asleep. Love my naps though.

Quality product, built to last. This is our second one. The first is still perfectly usable, just got dirty from being out but we literally use it every day! Decided to get a nice new one as a Father's Day gift.

I was a little concerned when I got an email well after I placed my order telling me there would be a lengthy delay as it was a gift. Luckily it arrived on time but if the delay had taken as long as it said, I wouldn't have had a gift for Father's Day. Apparently the delay was covid-related so I completely understand but it would have been better if there was an alert before the order was finalized. I was really worried it wasn't going to arrive in time.

Well made, spacious and very comfortable to lie on; I even occasionally sit sideways on it (mine is on a hammock stand). Definitely room enough for two if you are willing to share it!

It's a little more stretchy than the 100% cotton hammock I had previously. Just takes some getting used to. But the feel of the DuraCord is excellent. And, I don't have to run out and take down the hammock every time it rains.

I purchased this hammock as a gift for my step-father. It replaced the last Pawley's Island hammock that we got him, which lasted YEARS in full exposure to all the weather Wisconsin has to offer. He absolutely loves it. Not only is it a good looking hammock that elevates their yard-scape, it's so durable and comfortable. He meditates in it twice a day during good weather and he a Mom both use it for naps. It was a delight for me to purchase knowing I was getting a quality product and they just love it as an addition to their yard.

Well made! and important to me, it's made in the USA! So comfortable... LOVE it! I bought this for my husband for his birthday and we put it in the woods in our backyard. Nothing is more relaxing than watching the sunset from here while listening to the wood thrush! This is a great hammock!

Bought this for my husband for fathers day. He loves it! Very nice quality. Seems very durable, has been out in rain and sun for a few weeks now and still looks great. Very large also, fits two people easily. Only problem is that he has fallen out of it a lot-- Has to work on his balance!

Arrived slightly earlier than expected and is working nicely in our existing hammock stand so far. Nothing fancy but seems well made, we were looking for something that will last a decade like our last hammock and I have hopes that this will.

I could not get a replacement rope hammock from another company in time, so I ordered from Pawley's Island. The hammock is great, very sturdy, soft rope but now I feel better about leaving it out from time to time in the rain as it does not seem to soak up the rain. Very comfy. One thing - the links on the chain are a bit small, for our existing hammock stand we have to make sure that both links are on one side, while we connect the other end of the link to the S-hook. Very minor issue, otherwise great.

Looks great, feels nice, but 21 of the ropes have frayed ends straight out of the box. I emailed customer service and weeks later they told me to send pics. I did, immediately, and now it’s been weeks again with no response.
