Cap’n Josh, as he was known, was really only seeking a cool, comfortable, stable night’s sleep onboard his boat; he never set out to be in the hammock business! But soon enough, the inevitable happened: Friends wanted a rope hammock as good as the one he’d made for himself, and then it was friends of friends, and then folks Cap’n Josh didn’t know at all. In no time, family members were pitching in to help him meet the increasing demand. Jump forward just a few decades, and the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock had already become the standard by which other rope hammocks were being measured. Today, we get machine assistance with a few production processes, such as rope-making and woodcutting, to capture the precision required. At Pawleys Island, we don’t view the human part of the process merely as important; we regard it as essential. Handcrafting is who we are.

Love my hammock! I was very disappointed when no pillow came with it. I priced the pillow to buy and almost fell off my hammock! Too pricey but very high quality.

There is a one-year warranty on this product, and at 13 month after purchase, the color came off like chalk all over my clothes and body. I bought mine in red (now discontinued) and customer service said the one-year warranty is up and that they don't stand behind the quality of their products after that. For the price, I expect far better quality! Only buy if you're okay with replacing after just over a year of use.

I can't say there is anything wrong with this hammock but having owned one for many years I can see the differences in this one. A pillow is no longer included, the quilting is not as thick as my older hammock. It is still a lovely hammock and if I didn't already own one, I would have given 5 stars

We LOVE our hammock. Searched around a lot for a sturdy one. This hammock is built great. Hangs from our trees and we feel very safe on it. The water and dirt that does get on it when there is a storm wipes right off. Spending the money was worth it. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the color but only at first when I opened it. I thought it would be more teal blue but it is a true forest green. Not like the pictures shows, however, I love the green as well.

This is the most comfortable hammock I have ever owned. The woven fabric is of such high quality, I can see it lasting for year. I'm never going back to the open weave hammock again.

Am super happy with the product. Would have given a 5 star if a pillow was included. My last one was purchased at a local big box store and the pillow was included. Just another example of how you get less for your money these days
