I have already installed the new speedometer cable, but I have to finish the front brakes. When I am finished, then I will find out if it works or if I will have to purchase a new speedometer.

JBugs usually has the replacement products for my two Beetles. I live far from California, where there are many VW parts shops and mechanics. So, JBugs is a good resource for VW parts.
