Haven't used this feature yet. I installed it and then downloaded the app but didn't want to use if for security reasons. It wants access to all kinds of things on phone that I can't see any reason why it would need access. The app is way too invasive. I deleted it. Wished I wouldn't have wasted the money on the wifi device.

Couldn't be happier,I have 6 units in my house, in lieu of a whole house system, being able to set timers and turn on and off is what I have wanted for years, I have had mine in for over 3 months now and have almost perfect success with them. Sometimes I will turn off a unit from my phone and a far off unit may take a few min to turn off, but that literally the only issue. OH the LED flashes randomly and you can see it at night, so the one over my TV is constantly flashing when I use the IR remote. Minor issue and could easily cover the LED with tape under the cover panel.
