It is on the firm side. The seat is not very wide to the point that one of the zippers on the arm cuts into your thigh and you can feel the wood frame.

Unfortunately when we open the box we found the top part the top marble was for broken in half. So it is pretty much useless now to us otherwise it would’ve been a nice piece of furniture
