Met with David Aizuss. He was gracious enough to initially reschedule as I had not followed all the pre-meeting requirements and sent in some data at the last minute. At the rescheduled meeting, he was thorough with walking me through multiple scenarios around PSLF vs non-PSLF, and especially in the setting of potential regulatory changes coming from the federal government. He answered all my questions and it was great seeing the different calculators in action. At the end of the meeting, I told him that I felt so much better even though my loan balance was the same. I feel better equipped to make the right decisions in terms of how to file taxes, next best steps and what not to do, and when to stop and ask questions. I would highly recommend this service for any who need a step-by-step plan of what to do with their student loan repayment/forgiveness, and the initial cost of the consultation is nothing compared to the amount of money potentially saved by making the right decisions in multiple areas (employment, tax filing, saving for tax bomb, recertification of employment, selecting the best repayment plan, etc).

Derenda was wonderful! Patient, helpful, empathetic. Only thing I think was a little frustrating is that SLP's newsletter emphasizes it can help with deciding between filing jointly and separately, and I told Student Loan Planner in the intake form and then in an email to Derenda before we met that I'd have questions about filing jointly versus separately, but I didn't receive an answer about how the standard deductions work. I think that SLP should know that information, even if it's best that I speak to a tax consultant too. But, besides that, I was very happy with Derenda's service and look forward to working with her over the next year! Thanks!
