The tricky part was coming up with an appropriate mdr for iodine in micrograms. I found several suggestions, but went with a conservative medical opinion. Then it was just mathematical legwork: I needed to calculate what percentage of KI's weight was iodine. I needed each drop to have one mdr of iodine in it. There are 30 one-milliliter droppers of 30 drops each in a one fluid ounce bottle, i.e. 900 drops, so I needed 900 MDR doses of KI in the bottle, so 900 times the mdr was the weight of dry KI I needed to dissolve in each 30 millileters/one fluid ounce bottle. Easy, as long as you have a scale that is accurate down to 0.10 grams.
