Parallax

If you want to talk about a ball that’s special, the word parallax has to be in that sentence. Introducing the new Storm Parallax. The Parallax is Storm’s newest high end Asymmetrical bowling ball. The Parallax has the brand new Aeroflo Core wrapped in a new Traction X7 Hybrid reactive coverstock. If you look closely at the core, you see that there’s an opening in the core. That opening, when drilling into the bowling ball, simulates adding a weight hole, which we can no longer do because of the changes in rules. The core is designed to give bowlers the access to use a weight hole without actually having to drill a weight hole. You’ll see the most use out of that space when drilling it pin up for the majority of bowlers. With this ball being a hybrid, you have both solid and pearl components in the coverstock. The shape you’re going to see out of this ball is something special. For me, I can use this ball when I need to keep my angles closer to me. Not necessarily playing up the lane, but when I need a cleaner option from inside and still give me a little shape downlane. It’s a different shape I have yet seen from any storm ball made and I’m excited to throw it more in competition to see it full potential. Get your’s at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop.

The Storm Parallax is a unique strong yet smooth ball with a roll that feels different than any ball that I can recall. Maybe it’s the core that has a hole in the weight block which acts as if a weight hole was drilled then plugged which changed the density in that part. I drilled it 4x6x2.5. It’s very clean thru the heads with very strong smooth backend. It allows me to play just about anywhere on the lane on the house shot but most comfortable around 20 at the arrows. It seemed like the ball got stronger the deeper I played and a touch weaker the straighter I played. This I presume is due to the ball needing oil to store energy. To me this ball fits between the Omega Crux and Nuclear Cell, it’s a little longer than the Omega Crux and but a little sooner than the the Nuclear Cell. Hitting Power is tremendous!

Parallax

The Parallax is the newest piece from Storm. It has an all new weight block that has a hollowed out section which aims to produce consistent reaction of off the breakpoint. My initial impression is that this ball is different from what Storm has made in the past. This ball is smooth for a hybrid covered ball. Hybrids in the past have been strong down lane but the Parallax has a strong midlane read. Another thing I noticed is how fast the Parallax revs up in front of the pins. I'm no scientist so I'm not sure if this is visual or mathematical but it does seem to increase the pin carry. This ball will be good on the house patterns and the medium/heavy oil patterns.

Storm Parallax review by Trevor Roberts

The Parallax to me is on the stronger side of Storm’s shiny asymmetric. When thrown against the Alpha Crux, it is significantly cleaner and more angular. The TractionX7 coverstock provides the length you need for a stronger core like this one. The Aeroflo Core in the Parallax is a light weight core, that for me made the ball recover off the spot more than I expected. The RG in this ball is 2.52 and the differential is 0.054. I can see myself using this ball right after I put my solid asymmetric away, but before I pull out the Axiom and Phaze 2. I drilled mine 50 x 5 1/2 x 30 and love it so far. In my YouTube review you will see that with 2000 grit Abralon on the Parallax, it still clears the fronts easily and recovers remarkably on the back end. Parallax = ParaWOW

First shot off my hand, my jaw hit the floor! This motion was already something that I had been needing. This reminds me of the polished solid motion of the Eternal Cell. This was one of my all time favorites! I would say that the Parallax actually gives me a little more length and a little more angle than the Eternal Cell did. I went on Facebook live with The Parallax and an identically drilled AstroPhysix at 3000. The Astro was a little sooner and a touch more rounded compared to that of the Parallax. I can really see the Parallax being a House Shot Killer!! Get yours TODAY, August 7th at your local VIP pro shop! The layout that I used is 50 x 4-7/8 x 30 for the Dual Angle Fans For the Pin buffer peeps we have 4-7/8 pin to PAP, 4-1/4 PSA to PAP, 2 to my VAL. Balls in Heavy rotation: AstroPhysix- 50x4-3/4x30 IQ Emerald- 50x4-1/4x65 Trend- 50x5x30

Parallax Review

The Parallax was another ball I could not wait to order when it was released. When I saw and read about the ball I knew this was going to be a ball that I wanted in my bag. This ball is clean through the front part of the lanes easily and definitely pops on the backend. The Parallax is definitely going to be a ball for me to use when the lanes start to transition and I have to move my feet left playing more of the lane. I bowl in a scratch league during the fall and this ball is going to be good for me during game 3 and 4 when the transition starts. Those are the games where I have to start chasing the transition left and playing more of the lane. This Parallax will be a good ball for me to play that angle while still popping off the back end. I am looking forward to seeing what this ball gives me when leagues and tournament season start back up in the fall. It will definitely be a different look going from bowling by myself to others breaking down the pair with me. I look forward to seeing the different angles I am able to play the lanes when they start to break down. Sabrina Groves Storm Advisory Staff

Parallax

My Parallax is drilled 60X4.5X30. This ball offers the Traction X7 hybrid cover with 15 lbs numbers of 2.52 0.54 0.19. This ball also has a unique core in it. The core has a section taken out of the middle which raises the rg in intermediate diff. I closely compare this ball to the nuclear cell just a little earlier. Like all polished balls I have to move far left to get the reaction i want out of it. If having enough hand isnt an issue than moving inside with this ball wouldnt be an issue. This ball would work best for either far outside first game or once the lanes break down.

The Parallax contains the new Aeroflo core which helps improve core dynamics in today's sport. Unlike most asymmetrical pearl balls from Storm, the Parallax gives you a little bit of a smoother motion then typically found for this type of ball. This ball is definitely more ideal when more control of the breakpoint is required but you need a clean coverstock. Sport patterns and hooking house shots are good for this type of ball reaction. The New TX7 coverstock gives you the cleanliness of a Hybrid but smoothness of a solid while still allowing for stronger midlane read and continuation. This will be a good ball if you really like the Physix and Astrophysix because it is more or less a blend of both balls. When more downlane angle is needed the Astrophysix would be the go to ball but if you need a cleaner but controllable ball after the Physix, the Parallax is the go to ball. I can see myself using this ball on a wide array of sport patterns and some typical house shots.

Pins look like toothpicks!!!!!!!

Storm Parallax Layout – 55 x 5 3/8 x 10 I am always a big fan of shiny pearl/hybrid asymmetrical balls so I was excited to drill this one! This one for me is as strong as you would expect, I wanted to drill it differently from my Nuclear Cell to compliment it. My Nuclear is pin down and this is a sky high pin. I have this ball earlier and stronger than the Nuclear. I always knock the shine off of our shiny balls when I first get them, I did that on this ball with a 1000 pad to give it some teeth. This is a perfect ball down from UFO or Physix, should be great in transition, and won’t quit down lane! Get yours today!

Parallax Review

New Cover, New Core, New Excitement! The Parallax, featuring the Traction X7 Hybrid Coverstock matched with the Aeroflow core, will provide a strong asymmetrical ball for those heavy to medium heavy oil conditions. The design intent was to combine features of 7 of Storms best coverstocks which resulted in the Traction X7. With the Aeroflow core we see the mimic of a weight hole in the core which will help offset the new USBC rule of no weight holes. We will see much more designs like this from Storm and Roto Grip which will help offset the new rules and provide comparable shapes to what bowlers used to see who had weight holes in their equipment. There is a lot of chat about how different this shape is from the tech team at Storm and how the Parallax provides a unique reaction against the existing lineup. I see myself removing the polish off this ball and finishing it somewhere between 2-3000 grit to take away some of the angle from the ball to get it to slow down sooner and be more controllable. This ball will most likely be a step down ball from either a strong Asym or Symmetrical solid and when I need to initially begin opening my angles up when there is still a decent amount of oil in the front part of the lane.

Storm Parallax

The Parallax is the newest rock from Team Utah. Traction X7 Hybrid is the cover and that core is bananas....I drilled mine 50x4.5x35 and I was very happy with the ball reaction. It reminded me of the Intense from a few years ago, which I thought was an awesome release. The characteristics of R3S Pearl carried over to X7, I could be wrong but, it felt similar. The Parallax is a good balancing release from Storm, with all of the big cover balls that have come out lately, It's a nice return to some angle from a high end Asymm. Thanks for reading, see you next time. Copy/paste this link to check out our on lane review---> https://youtu.be/dPO6xLbTj90
