Cap’n Josh, as he was known, was really only seeking a cool, comfortable, stable night’s sleep onboard his boat; he never set out to be in the hammock business! But soon enough, the inevitable happened: Friends wanted a rope hammock as good as the one he’d made for himself, and then it was friends of friends, and then folks Cap’n Josh didn’t know at all. In no time, family members were pitching in to help him meet the increasing demand. Jump forward just a few decades, and the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock had already become the standard by which other rope hammocks were being measured. Today, we get machine assistance with a few production processes, such as rope-making and woodcutting, to capture the precision required. At Pawleys Island, we don’t view the human part of the process merely as important; we regard it as essential. Handcrafting is who we are.

These are not what I thought I was ordering. My stand is older and has the caps that slide onto the ends rather than fitting into the end openings. The caps I received fit, I will just need to paint the stand because the ends where the old caps were show the unfaded color of the stand.

They are not the same as the original end caps, which went OVER the ends of the hammock frame. These fit INSIDE the ends of the frame. They do provide a seal to keep moisture out of the frame to prevent rusting; they just don't protect the frame from rubbing against the concrete patio, like the old ones did.

No problems. but a better picture would make it easier to tell that these end caps fit INSIDE the end of the frame, not on the outside.

We had an old rope hammock and stand bought by my parents many, many years ago. The hammock had deteriorated beyond restoration, but the metal stand was in good condition. All it needed was the wheels and endcaps. We purchased the soft weave hammock which is comfortable and attractive. The wheels and endcaps were simple to install and fit perfectly. We are very pleased with all purchases. I would love to have a hammock storage bag but according to the website the only bags they carry only fit the rope hammocks.

Because it isn't the season for hammocks I haven't used the caps yet but I will when it is summertime. However, I only need one cap too bad that I had to purchase 6 - waste of money!!!
