I have a feral cat colony n a wilderness area in NY & most of my gang are now seniors. I put these warmers in their shelters around 3 p.m., wrapped in a face cloth & embedded in the straw. They do indeed last 18 hr, and when I replace them the following day, I can see where the animals just plopped down on top of the warmers.& stayed there. It's like giving them a heating pad. I can see a positive difference in their behavior when they have had a warm, restful night through polar vortex bitterness or a nor'easter. I sometimes also drop a warmer down my long john top at the nape of my neck on really rough days, and it warms my whole torso & upper arms. When I leave the site, I store it in plastic & fire it back up the next day for days til it is spent. These warmers are a good deal & Industrial Safety Gear has the best price I've found.
