Have had this unit for about 4 years. It worked just fine until recently. It was time to replace the batteries. We did. I did once and my daughter also did. Both times it stopped working. All the electronics light up but it refuses to open the gate. Thus, I need to buy another unit. So, does it only have shelf life of 4 years?

Whoever decided to put almost microscopic bolts and nuts should be FIRED! I've lost two of the almost microscopic nuts when attempting to fasten the outer shell for the keypad to the telescopic arm. Did they really expect that people who install these systems have small, delicate hands that can easily juggle getting four small bolts with spacers and then threading the microscopic nuts onto them while holding it all together??? Ridiculous. Now I've got a shell for the keypad that is only being held up by two really small bolts.

Direct replacement. My 14-month-old board died when wasps nested in my control box (also killed the buzzer, which I replaced). I advise, tape a piece of screen over the tiny hole in the bottom of your control box.
