The site said free shipping on orders over $75. My total was $79 and there was no option for free shipping.

The free shipping option will appear at the checkout page when your order's total is $75 or over AFTER any coupons are applied. It is true that the product you ordered was $80, however, when you applied the 10% off coupon code, it lowered your your order total to $72.
