I bought a very expensive Juki serger 20 years ago, and this, ( much cheaper), model is every bit as nice! I can't get over it! I kind of expected it to be kind of junky for this price but it's amazing! It doesn't vibrate on the table like so many cheap sergers. The motor sounds so good, too. It just zips right along. It was so easy to set the tensions, and go! I'm so happy with this purchase. Don't hesitate! It's a good one!

I researched long and hard to determine the right machine to get to replace my old, no frills Singer and I am completely happy with my choice! I was able to open it and get started with minimal confusion (it does thread and wind differently so I had to follow the directions the first time or two, but no problems!) and have tried the different feet and stitches. Beautiful stitch quality, no problems with the fabric catching and pulling into the machine at the start of a seam (as was a major problem with my Singer) and so quiet! This machine is very easy to use and has all the features I was looking for in an all around sewing and quilting machine. LOVE the extension table for my quilting projects! I know Harriet (yes, I believe a machine this wonderful needed a name!) and I will enjoy many years of sewing and quilting together!

I have never sewed before but right out of the box I was able to wind a bobbin, install a bobbin, thread the machine and sew. The on board tutorials are excellent. I also embroidered something right out of the box, again using the tutorials to switch out the bobbin case and install the embroidery arm, modify a design and go! As a newbie, I'm very glad I went a ahead and blew the budget for this machine. Just beware quilters, there is no "cheap" walking foot made for this machine. Only a $400 option. Disappointing after dropping $4k on the machine. However Janome makes one that fits for about $25. You'll need to adjust the stitch width in order not to break your needle. I dont know the model number but your local dealer should be able to help you out. The machine has lots of settings and features which I am still learning after 2 months of ownership. If you are not a newbie like me, you could easily ignore all the on board help. It doesnt leap out at you, I go looking for it. The menus are intuitive and I love the lighting.

I have found some new "old stock" d-cards on Both Amazon and eBay. I think the most useful ones I've found were the programmable cards.

I love the beautiful stitches and ease of use! I do have 2 notes about set up! Both about the encoders!1) The nut they give for the encoder is a locking nut. It does NOT fit in the track unless you turn it upside down (this making the locking a moot point!)2) in order to have clearance for the encoders the back track MUST be all the way to the back of the frame! But once it is set up it quilts like a dream! Thank You!!
