Very pleased with the machine but disappointed in the slide on bobbin tray. It is definitely not a deal breaker but could be a better - fully enclosed and tilt open - design as is on my old Janome.

It was very easy to compare machines and their values. I purchased this for a gift ... I will provide the lessons! The machine is great. My only issue was a delivery problem in that it had to be signed for and arrangements had to be made to have someone at the house to accept the package. I understand the security issue but would recommend making it clear when ordering.

I gave away an older basic machine to my daughter. I incorrectly assumed that I could use my Futura for all sewing purposes. My granddaughter got a Brother model similar to this a couple of years ago and when I am there, I have used it quite successfully. So off I went to get myself one that wouldn't break the bank. In the first week, I completed about six mending/alteration tasks. Looking forward to using it for Christmas gifts.

The stitches patterns are easy to navigate and the machine is pretty straightforward. The needle threader isn't the best, sometimes it's easier just to thread it myself.
