As former thumb suckers ourselves, our own dentist in the mid 80’s told us to wrap an ACE bandage around our elbow, and said it was the most effective approach to stopping thumb sucking. We have had the product for about a week. It's been hard to find how tight to put the device on. If it's too loose our daughter is able to slide them down her arms and take them off. But if we put them on tighter they seem to be painful. In the mornings she will wake up and cry that her arms hurt. That is our biggest issue so far.

Effective, gentle, firm approach to helping your child stop their thumb sucking habit in a clear and fair way. Following the guidance and instructions included increased our success. Although our four year old is resistant at times, having a chart to look back on for progress and positive reminders gave him the encouragement he needed. To see the look of self esteem on his face makes this process worth it through the difficulties.

So far so good. Child is going longer periods of time without trying to force her fingers into her mouth, even forgetting that she's not wearing her brace at times. She's motivated to make it work based on the incentive based plan that comes with the product.

I’m shocked at the difference this has made and we’re only on night 2. To be fair — I’ve been working with my 2 year old to only suck her fingers in her bed room, but now that is stopping with these armbands. We needed to use these because she kept picking at her face while she slept (scabs not healing). We were holding off on using these around the holidays because so much was going on. I’m glad we most decided to do it anyway. We put them on at night and at naptime. She does not usually wear them during the day, although we might start. Note: I do give a comfort item for her to sleep with. She chooses her Jesus stuffed toy or her teddy bear. Usually Jesus, because she also prays to feel better.

I'm glad I went through the website instead of Amazon. I'm really surprised at the quality and even the support I'm getting. I've already told my speech/language pathologist friend about this item. I will continue sharing about this product with anyone who will listen to me!

NIPIT is working great so far. Our 3 year old son sucks both his thumbs. We have been using NIPIT for 1 week and it is going very well. Our son is responding well and is ok with wearing it.

This has drastically reduced my 2.5 year old’s thumb sucking. She only wears it at night now since daytime thumb sucking was eliminated after a day or two of wearing Nipit.

We have a developmentally delayed child that has very specific special needs: he tries to gag himself anytime his nose or tummy bothers him. This stops him from being able to do that and definitely worth the price for the piece of mind!

My son had no issues wearing it he loves it and he actually comes so that I can put it on. We did this the star charts and he loves that too. He’s still trying to put his fingers in his mouth, but for the most he doesn’t really have his fingers in his mouth as often. I also allow him to wear it at night and he has never cried so I think it’s working perfectly. He is about to finish his first week of wearing it and I have zero complaints.

The arm band is definitely helping curb my son's thumb sucking habit. He still occassionally puts his thumb in his mouth but can't keep it there long. I would rate it 5 stars except for 3 things. At first my son complained that it was itchy, but he is getting more used to it and it isn't bothering him as much after 1 week. It was also a bit tricky to put it on correctly at first but it's getting easier. Also, it doesn't fit well underneath most of my son's long sleeve shirts so we have to put him in t-shirts. Not ideal for winter time, but putting it over top of the sleeves doesn't work well either. It tends to slip down his arm if it isn't right against the skin.

The Nipit site is user friendly--it was easy to find the information I needed and make the purchase. The arm band is definitely helping. My son is still sucking his thumb but much less than he did one week ago.

At this point the jury is still out. It works while it is on her but her habit is so bad that it has to be on her or I have to be watching her to make sure she doesn't suck. That isn't a reflection on the product though. My concern there is that in order for it to be tight enough that she can't slip it off, I feel like it is a little too tight. Her skin under it is somewhat irritated and she is always greatly relieved to get it off. Due to trying to keep it loose enough that she isn't uncomfortable, she has slipped it off and snuck in her thumb several times so I am concerned that it won't be enough to actually break the habit. It has been 10 days now so we will see.

Input has, in these first two weeks, been effective. The first 4 days were difficult, especially at bedtime (This is when our daughter’s thumb sucking was the worst.). She would cry for about an hour due to her inability to suck her thumb, but she was not able to suck it. After the Fourth night, there was no more protesting. During the daytime, her thumb sucking has been eliminated at two weeks. During the evening/close to bedtime she still wants to suck her thumb, but it’s not as pronounced as it was, and we put the Nipit on. I see this being a success if the results/improvements keep on coming as they have during the first two weeks..... Getting through the first few days has been the hardest part for all.

Properly positioning on arm was a little difficult at first. The first few days were not only hard for our daughter but hard for us as she was extremely upset and efforts to comfort weren't effective. The product has been durable and very effective so far.

My daughter who is 7 really wanted to quit sucking her thumb but needed help quitting. This worked from night 1. She reminds me to put it on every night and we are on our 2 week without any thumb sucking!

We are at the end of our first week. So far our daughter, 4, has had only 4 slip ups. She was ready but the habit was very hard to stop without support. She doesn't fight us putting it on which is great, but it does become uncomfortable or itchy by the afternoon. She's a trooper though and the sticker chart is very helpful getting her cooperation. I also appreciate that she has full function of her thumbs so she can still function independently and play during the day. This is exactly what we needed to help her stop this habit.

These are expensive, but after trying EVERYTHING else to help our daughter stop biting her nails, the money was worth it. She has been wearing a NIPIT on each arm most of the day and night. After only a couple weeks, her nails are growing and she's learning to keep her hands away from her mouth. Her nail beds have a lot of healing to do, but for the first time in 7 years of her having this habit, we have hope!

Loved the concept of these. Especially being able to keep his hands and fingers free. However, my almost 4 1/2 yr old son can sadly still suck his thumb with ease by sticking out his neck.

We purchased two nipits and we are beginning week four. My son is four years old and he mainly sucks at nap and bedtime. He is able to put his nipit in his mouth if he strains his neck. Before he goes to bed, we pep him up and encourage him to say “tonight, I’m going to keep my thumb down!” We can hear that he still sucks to fall asleep. However, when we check on him mid-night, he doesn’t have his thumb in his mouth....it likely falls out bc of the pressure the device puts on his arm. We are going to stick with it for the next two weeks but ultimately I think we’re going to have to try something else. Going to see if they will allow us to return them. Bummer.

Michelle - that is Exactly how NIPIT is supposed to work! NIPIT is designed to change the behavior over time, not by forcing the fingers out of the face completely as then it would be very uncomfortable restraint. From what I read, NIPIT worked for you.. just need a little more time to have the habit totally weened.

These are great! We tried everything before buying the Nip-its and they all failed. My daughter WANTS to stop sucking her thumb and she's doing great with them on all day.
