I look forward to the email you're going to send us in 10 years telling us your MacCase Flight Jacket is the best bag you have ever owned. Not the best laptop bag, but the best bag, period. You mention that it's overpriced. My question would be, compared to what? What you have purchased with your MacCase Flight Jacket is something not readily available in today's market: Real Value. Most products are designed with what is called “planned obsolescence”. Which means they are designed to fail or to go out of style which forces you to buy another one. MacCase products are designed to endure, year after year. Their timeless design aesthetic insures they never go out of style. The quality of the materials and how skillfully they are assembled is second to none. This design has been in constant production since it was introduced in 2008. We receive emails, cards and letters all the time from customers who purchased one in those early years whose bags are still going strong. It’s a bag you’ll be using long after the purchase price has been forgotten. One day in the distant future you'll realize how wonderful a companion it has been, sit down and write us an email letting us know how happy you are that you bought one all those years ago.

Regarding the backpack strap option, again for nearly 15 years we have offered them as an option because not everyone wants or needs them. The base case comes with a shoulder strap. For many, this is sufficient. If you want or need the backpack option, it’s available. Making someone pay for parts they do not want or need is against our philosophy. If the phone case is not going to work for you, it can be returned and we will happily refund the purchase price. 

As William mentioned, he is a returning customer who purchased a Flight Jacket with the backpack option from us in 2012. We reached out to William to get some clarification about his comments about his newly purchased Briefcase. We wanted to know because the Briefcase he just purchased is made with the same leather in the same way as his nearly 10 year old Flight Jacket. In the ten years William has owned his Flight Jacket we never had a warranty claim. No part of the bag has ever failed. Given this, the Flight Jacket serves as a proxy for what his experience is going to be like with the new Briefcase. 

When we asked about the nearly 10 year old Flight Jacket and how it has held up, we were told, "I used it for awhile, in fact I pulled it out again the other day, having forgotten I had it. It’s held up well. “
