The case is very good except for one major design flaw: The volume control buttons are very hard to use.
I can understand J’s concern about the volume buttons. This version of our Folio dates back to 2017 and is the first generation of this type of design. When developing the tray, we had to prioritize safety and protection vs. ease of use. The buttons can be operated easily with a little finesse.
The reason there can be some difficulty in working with the volume buttons is the tray material covers the buttons themselves. At the time, our engineering team suggested not putting a bunch of holes in the edge of the tray. Again, our priority was safety and protection. In the 2nd generation of the case, the material covering the buttons was removed as we improved our knowledge of how to best use the polymer material of the tray.
There is a grove that surrounds the area covering the buttons. When you go to press them, the material “gives” and the force you apply to the tray is transferred through the tray and onto the buttons themselves changing the volume. It sounds like J is pressing the tray and the softness of his finger is absorbing the pressure. It’s not being transferred through the tray material and onto the volume buttons themselves. He is experiencing this as “very hard to use”.
The solution for this is to use the very tip of your finger or the front edge of your nail to engage the button vs. the soft pad of your finger. The stiffer tip or hardness of your nail transfers the pressure through the case without a problem. Another option would be to simply trim the tray material away so the buttons are exposed. The grove around them makes this very easy to do by acting as a guide. If you’d like us to remove the material before we ship your order, let us know and we’ll take care of it for you.

The look and finish of the case is very good BUT the part of the case that houses the I pad doesn’t fit well and operating the volume buttons is almost impossible
We have reached out to Graham to offer him several solutions for the issue he was having.
Good shopping experience

The case came quickly and I had tracking all the way so that was good. I have an issue with the case but I am hoping to get that fixed.

My iPad Pro case is just as described. The leather is lovely and soft but firm enough to protect it. I love the colour and the idea of use a rubber like substance rather than a hard polymer to hold it in place. This is what happened to my last leather case. The plastic holder that held it in place and was supposed to protect the corners I got it in broke on one corner so it would slide right out. This will never happen with this case.

This case is made of beautiful soft leather. It is form enough to provide good protection and is well padded. The rubber type of enclosure holds it in very firmly which is good as my last one was leather formed over plastic. The plastic broke and the iPad Pro would fall out. I am very pleased with it.

Loved it, I had to have Michael explain a few things for it but he was awesome.

I was contacted by Michael Santoro directly with my issue. He is very hands-on with his company and saw to it that any and all concerns were met to my satisfaction. I appreciate an owner who is that involved in his customers.

Received case for 2018 model, camera hole to small! Wasn’t worth the hassle to send back! Quality is good!
To address Mr. Wehunt's comment that we shipped the wrong case, we offer 2 models for the 11" iPad Pro as he states. One is for the original 2018 11" iPad Pro model and one is for the 2nd generation model released in March 2020. Mr. Wehunt ordered the 2018 model but needed the 2020 Gen 2 model. The 2020 model is clearly identified as such with "2020" in the product’s title. This will show up in any order placed for the 2020 version of the case.
We went back and checked and Mr. Wehunt did order the 1st gen model. His order doesn’t have 2020 in the product tittle. If we had shipped him the incorrect version we would have sent him a return label and the correct case out immediately to resolve the issue. We offered to switch the 2018 model he ordered for the 2020 model he needed (if he would pay the difference in the price) but this offer was declined.
We’re happy he would choose to purchase another MacCase and that he would recommend the product as well. We just wanted to clarify to anyone reading this review and seeing the 3 star rating, that we did indeed ship the product that was ordered.

I have had the brown case for about 3 years and it still looks as good as the day I received it. It has outlasted all the other iPad covers other family members have purchased at the same time. I highly recommend these products as they are worth the money.

Dear Michael Santoro & Team in MacCase: It's with great pleasure I received your post parcel and hereby I send you my comments with some pictures. My new leather MacCase looks very elegant and smells very fine too. I feel very happy about this original product produced in California, the home of Apple. My new daily companion is very unique, un-cheap but perfectly organized and thought out in every detail, giving me that kind of exclusive touch I love.

This is my second MacCase iPad Folio. I had one for my 10.5" pro. The quality of the leather and interior cloth, the careful attention to details like stitching alignment are spot on. I also tried the Kavaj London, Toro, and Pad & Quill. The Kavaj product uses minimalist materials whose edges won't last the month. The Toro case used good leather but was mounted on a flimsy inner board that bent easily especially at the corner from hell (camera, on/off, and volume). The Pad & Quill used a very thick leather cover material, was stitched very well, and had No edge protection. The 3M mounting adhesive system simply glued to the back of the bare iPad to the inside of the case...meaning, no edge protection. And I could never get used to the strap. The MacCase Folio uses the best leather (Vintage) I've seen. The padded case is just the right thickness and closes authoritatively onto the surface of the iPad. A polymer tray is used to hold the iPad in place. The polymer material is strong enough to hold the iPad securely especially in the corners and along the bottom and acts as a rubber bumper of sorts along the short edges and bottom. The top edge of the iPad is uncovered just enough for the new Pencil and the case flaps help cover the pencil when attached. The Vintage leather is unfinished and Very Soft. It will show scratches and in time natural oils from your hands. Michael recommends treating it every 6 to 12 months with the same product used to soften baseball gloves and tack.

Just got the new cover in the mail, and it is gorgeous! The attention to detail, the feel of the leather, and the fit of the iPad in the case are all top notch. The pencil slots in securely and all the ports and buttons are accessible and fully functional. Installation was easy and intuitive, I actually prefer the new tray over the previous iteration. The cover is everything I've come to expect from mac-case.com. I've bought covers from all the major vendors and a couple of bespoke shops, but none have ever come close to these covers. The buying process was great, with frequent updates from Michael and support from Jody as I waited for the product to be available. I look forward to years of trouble-free use based on past experience with other mac-case products.

This is my 4th case for my iPad Pro 11". I'm glad to see Mac-Case did away with the metal frame on this case. The leather is plush and very appealing to the eye and protective to my iPad. The only complaint I have is the frame that holds the iPad to the case needs to a bit stiffer. The frame is made of what seems to be pliable rubber or soft plastic. In the area where there is an opening the frame pulls off of the iPad easily. In the corners though it seems to be stiff enough to stay put. Other than that the case is high quality and a good value.
Richard- We are always happy to switch out a case that you are not 100% happy with. Given that, the polymer material that the tray that holds the iPad is made from is heat sensitive. If you have an area that is not aligning perfectly with your iPad, a little heat from a hair dryer (with the iPad out of the case) in that area will allow you to form the material where you want it. Heat the tray, put the iPad in the case, move the material
so it's aligned and hold it there while it cools. This should fix the problem.
Why Trust Verified Reviews?
Verified Reviews are real, authentic reviews collected from actual paying customers, using Shopper Approved's Verified Review Platform. When reviews are Verified by Shopper Approved, you know that you can trust them to make better buying decisions.
Unverified Reviews on the other hand, are reviews collected by Open Review platforms that allow anyone to leave a review, without any validation or proof of purchase. Unfortunately, most reviews you read online are Unverified Reviews, and can't be trusted.
As a consumer, here's how you can tell the difference:
Verified Reviews from Verified Review Platforms like Shopper Approved, have much higher review counts and higher overall Star ratings, because they attempt to collect reviews from every single paying customer.
Unverified Reviews from Open Review Platforms, tend to have much lower review counts and more negative Star ratings, because people with bad experiences are primarily those who leave reviews. This often creates a misleading, inaccurate portrayal of a companies true reputation.
So, when searching for Verified Reviews, look for the name you know you can trust. Shopper Approved.
