Bought these as a training pair and Im vey happy with the quality for the price. I train Ip Ching style so we do flip the swords and these flip really well.

So I first reviewed this model on November 12, 2020, and I do stand by that review as far as the "training" weight being too heavy. Rewind many years ago when I purchased a Cold Steele Jain, very sharp and very heavy. Too heavy in fact to play the Tai Chi sword form. This straight sword sat on a stand in my living room for many years...collecting dust. As luck would have it, my "Special student" wife completed the BJD last year. Consequently, we started running practical application techniques using two pairs of the plastic Ip Man BJD that were formally available on EWC. I am a firm believer in live weapon training. We both have pistols and shoot frequently. Blade work is no different. So, you can see where I'm going with this. These Ip Man steel training swords are a great match against the Cold Steel Combat Jian. So both swords have been repurposed as sparring weapons along with a long pole. Disclaimer: Don't try this without proper supervision and protective equipment. The swords are holding up very well.

Yes, these are "training" swords however they are too heavy. The Buick Yip comparable model actually feels better when playing the form. Gorgeous knives with a high-quality fit and finish. A weight this heavy changes the whole dynamics of the form. If they were a little lighter they would be perfect.
