The website info & videos gave me everything I needed to know. The radiant barrier is working as advertised, but don't expect it fix all the other problems like return air leaks, duct leaks, window shading east, west & south, poor insulation and air infiltration. I ordered the 26" rolls for truss's and had a tuff but doable install as the attic is quite small. I cut 12' lengths and used the nail on the stick to push the end to outer wall, then started stapling from the top working one side as far as reachable before moving to the other side. This prevented some binding or unevenness. I stapled as far down the truss as I could reach laying on my back.(yes it's that small but I was determined) The remainder is laying on top of the insulation just like on the web site. |
Attic foil has lived up to my expectations. I have installed it on the two by fours just below the roof deck. Since I had the ceiling down in the living room I was able to check the temperature with a infrared thermoneter. The difference was about 30 degress cooler on the open side. This was in the middle of the day when the sun was beating down. |

I just finished installing close to 3000' of AtticFoil which took about twenty eight man hours over three weekends. |
After considerable reserach, I purchased AtticFoil because they were the only company to discuss use of their product outdoors. Additionally, the strength of AtticFoil was a huge factor. I used AtticFoil to wrap the exteriors of two very large municipal odor control scrubbers in the Las Vegas area. My intent was to reduce surface heat on these black plastic tanks. The installation was flawless, the product is superb and I am now reccomending Attic Foil to all my customers. |

I installed AtticFoil under the roof rafters for protection against New Orleans summer heat gain. I previously installed AtticFoil in the same manner at my prior Houston home. AtticFoil works to deflect radiant heat. Of course we want to do that in the summer months. In the winter months, I find that my attic is cooler and I need to heat the house more. All together, in the South, better to trade less a/c load for slightly more heating load. |
